Recent agreements between Canada's Competition Bureau and the Canadian Real Estate Association have afforded homeowners more freedom to choose non-traditional real estate models and still take full advantage of the MLS®. Our discount commissions and three unique MLS® Service Plans are exactly the intended result of those agreements. While this is undoubtedly good for Canadian homeowners, the unfortunate result is that many new and largely inexperienced discount brokerages are entering the market. While our fee program at rhinorealty continues to evolve with the industry, our continued presence as the leading discount real estate company in Calgary for over a decade is proof of our excellent service and client commitment.
So, the question is why do we do what we do? Well, like any business we're trying to make a profit. But it's more than that. The owners of rhinorealty, Allan and Melissa Logue, and their team of Realtors® truly believe that traditional real estate fees are artificially high as a result of the stranglehold MLS® has on resale homes in Canada. Furthermore, we strongly believe in free enterprise, consumer choice and a competitive marketplace. Real estate services should not be an exception. Therefore, it's not so much that we enjoy saving you money, although we do, as it is about believing that no industry, including real estate, should be allowed to take advantage of the public.
In addition to selling homes, we also work with buyers and have helped hundreds of clients find that perfect place to call home. Recently, changes to the Alberta Real Estate Act now allow licensed brokerages to pay cash incentives to non-licensed individuals. Again, rhinorealty has led the way in offering cashback incentives to home buyers. We were the first real estate brokerage in Calgary to offer a brokerage-wide cashback program for buyers. Our 25% Buyer's CashBack Reward Program helps new homeowners pay for those necessary new home costs. To date, not a single traditional brokerage in Calgary offers such a program.
